Approximately 50,000 individuals living in Michigan have ASD. 

65% of parents reported their child with ASD had been bullied.
 
Some parents had been persuaded to go on parenting courses, and even after the diagnosis some still believed that they were somehow at fault, partly because children on the autism spectrum have no recognizable physical signs and some people didn't really believe that the children were on the autism spectrum support groups made life a bit easier and helpful especially after talking to adults that were on the autism spectrum.
